EastBanc Technologies teamed up with the American Red Cross to transform their on-prem host environment into a scalable, cloud-based infrastructure for their applications and services.
Difficult to maintain and extend, the old-fashioned monolithic architecture was replaced with a modern REST microservices architecture on AWS. Implementing twenty independent, containerized microservices, dramatically improved system scalability, failover, maintainability, and extensibility.
The mission to modernize the Red Cross ecosystem included redeveloping the RedCross.org/RedCrossBlood.org backend Java code, introducing completely new software development processes for the IT department - their developers are now able to use tools, plugins, and components created by EastBanc Tech to develop new features and services with the latest technology stack - and migrating, converting, and cleaning up data from Red Cross' legacy database (Oracle) to a new database server (AWS Aurora).
